What happened a few months later after the mother, father and brothers were tired of funding her habit decided to seek an intervention. Her mother was the enabler and they had to send her out of the room because her daughter was trying to get the mother on her side to prove that she was indeed in pain. After the mother left the room the daughter recanted her story and decided that she needed to go to a drug treatment center for help.

It was like night and day. One minute she was in pain and had to take the prescribed drugs and as soon as her enabler was no longer there to support her addiction she was ready to accept treatment. A lot of times as family members we become enablers by supporting the habits of our loved ones without even realizing how much we are hurting them. Sometimes tough love is required because these individuals will sink deeper and deeper into drug addiction and then you won't be able to get them out of the pit of despair.

When a drug addicted person uses drugs for a long period of time there health begins to diminish and they are no longer interested in their own personal hygiene. They will have rotted teeth, bad breath, smelly underarms and just an overall appearance of unkemptness. These individuals have reached the point of not caring. Help from a drug treatment center will help these individuals to see life differently. It will force them look from within and see what the real cause of their problem is. After that kind of self discovery they are able to see it the way it really is and accept the help to make the change needed to help them to lead a normal life again.
